SoilLifeBoats Presented in Helsinki: Strengthening European Collaboration for Soil Innovation

In June 2024, the SoilLifeBoats project was proudly presented during a high-level consortium meeting held in Helsinki, Finland. The event was hosted by our esteemed partner, LUKE – Natural Resources Institute Finland, and gathered over 30 scientists, researchers, and private sector representatives from across Europe.
This international meeting provided a unique opportunity to showcase our project’s innovative technologies and foster new partnerships across disciplines and sectors. Participants included renowned institutions such as:
• Institute of Microbiology of the CAS, v. v. i. – Czech Republic
• Prospex Institute – Belgium
• Forestry Commission Research Agency – United Kingdom
• Climate Farmers Academy gUG – Germany
• European Forest Institute
• Aix-Marseille University – France
• Forest Science & Technology Centre of Catalonia – Spain
• National Forest Centre – Slovakia
• Research Institute for Nature & Forest (INBO) – Belgium
• Tapio Palvelut Oy – Finland
• EarthWatch (Conservation Education & Research Trust) – United Kingdom
During the event, the SoilLifeBoats project and its technologies were introduced to the consortium, with particular focus on our Rock Cellulose Granules and NPK-impregnated willow wood sticks. The presentation was well-received, and our solutions were recognized as promising contributions to sustainable soil and land management—especially under changing climate conditions.
As a result of this presentation, our company was officially invited to join the consortium in preparing a new proposal focused on building Living Labs in four European countries. One of the most exciting outcomes for us is the plan to test our Rock Cellulose Granules in forestry environments as part of these Living Lab experiments.
This meeting not only strengthened existing relationships but also opened new avenues for collaboration and technology scaling. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet all the project partners, exchange knowledge, and collectively plan future actions for soil health, ecosystem restoration, and land resilience across Europe.
We are grateful to LUKE for hosting this inspiring event and to all the partners for their interest and support. We look forward to what’s ahead—because collaboration is the key to making sustainable innovation truly grow.
